UPDATE: An estimated 250,000+ COVID-19 cases that were reported between August 2 and September 2 are being traced back to the 2020 Sturgis Motorcycle Rally, according to a paper by Dhaval Dave, Andrew Friedson, Drew McNichols, and Joseph Sabia of the Center for Health Economics & Policy Studies at San Diego State University. These cases resulted in roughly $12B in public health costs and accounted for approx 19% of COVID-19 cases nationwide in that time period.
