I am finally ready to share what has been going on with my husband and I over the past few months. Eric has been fighting skin cancer in his ear since last summer. After his dermatologist finally did a biopsy and confirmed the cancer we knew was there, Eric was sent to a radiologist where he had daily low dose treatment for over a month last fall. Now the healing process was to kick in, except his ear didn’t heal for months. Then COVID hit, scaring Eric into not following up ...with the rAdiologist as soon as he should have. Finally in May he had his ear checked with both the radiologist and dermatologist saying they think the cancer was gone.another biopsy was taken, probably more because of Eric’s insistence than doctor concerns. Two days later (Memorial weekend) Eric was in so much pain that he drove himself to the ER where a tumor in his ear canal was discovered. Last Tuesday he had surgery to remove his right ear, his ear canal and explore the nerve cluster behind his ear and his jaw to make sure the cancer was gone. He was in ICU until yesterday. He seems to be improving daily but has a long recovery ahead. We are hoping that he can come home in the next few days.
