Нинішні протести проти расизму й поліцейського насильства щодо темношкірих стали найбільшими в історії США. Це підрахували американські журналісти. Мітинги під гаслом #BlackLivesMatter ("Життя темношкірих мають значення") відбуваються у всіх штатах, у мегаполісах і маленьких містечках. Приводом для них стало вбивство темношкірого американця Джорджа Флойда поліцейсь...ким у Міннеаполісі 25 травня, коли полісмен упродовж майже 9 хвилин душив чоловіка коліном просто посеред вулиці. У місті було підпалено поліцейських відділок, а протести почали стрімко ширитися країною і згодом перекинулися на Європу.

Більшість виступів є мирними, проте у соцмережах і на екранах шириться чимало фото з випадками мародерства, яке дійсно мало місце. Тоді як за межами США, зокрема й в Україні, ведеться чимало розмов про провокаторів або дебатів щодо расизму в США. Усе це відбувається на тлі пандемії COVID-19, від якої померло 110 000 американців, майбутніх виборів президента США і наказів Дональда Трампа застосовувати силу проти мітингувальників. Суспільне попросило трьох найвідоміших американських філософів і істориків, які, до того ж, добре знаються на подіях в Україні, пояснити природу протестів у США спеціально для українців. Нашими інтерв'юерами виступили Тімоті Снайдер, Енн Епплбаум і Френсіс Фукуяма.

The current protests against racism and police violence against dark-skinned have become the biggest in the history of the US. American journalists have calculated this. Rallies under the #BlackLivesMatter slogan (′′ Dark-skinned lives matter ′′) occur in all states, in metropolis and small towns. The excuse for them was the murder of ...a dark-skinned American George Floyd by a police officer in Minneapolis on May 25, when a polisman had for almost 9 minutes strangled a man with a knee just in the middle of the street. Police officers were set on fire in the city, and protests began to spread the country rapidly and later overturned to Europe.

Most performances are peaceful, but on social networks and on screens spread many photos with cases of looting, which is really little place. While outside the US, in particular in Ukraine, there is a lot of talk about provocateurs or debates about racism in the US. All this happens against the background of the COVID-19 pandemic, which died 110 Americans, future US presidential elections and Donald Trump's orders to apply force against rally. Selfless asked for three most famous American philosophers and historians, who, besides, know well on events in Ukraine, explain the nature of protests in the United States specifically for Ukrainians.
