PLENTY OF JUDGMENT TO GO AROUND?

On the subject of judging mask deniers, there's this op-ed in USA TODAY by a southern Californian who shared a Napa Valley house for the July 4th weekend with his girlfriend and two other couples. One of the couples, another unmarried couple from outside California, had flown in on American Airlines, the king of packed COVID flights, via two other airports. And the writer from Los Angeles here judges his housemates' refusal to wear a mask.

I h...ave little sympathy - just some more judgment to add. As Romans 2:1 says, "you have no excuse, O man, every one of you who judges. For in passing judgment on another you condemn yourself, because you, the judge, practice the very same things". Wasn't the writer himself guilty of furthering the spread of COVID by agreeing to this plan to share a room, one might assume, with a woman who wasn't his wife, and the same house with couples from three other households in at least two other parts of the country? Which is more effective, wearing masks or cutting non-essential contacts in the first place?

So does this mean it's wrong to judge? That's not what Jesus taught either. His instruction in John 7:24: "Do not judge by appearances, but judge with right judgment." And right judgment is the judgment that comes from the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:4).
