I’m excited to report that our first neighborhood Bible day camps have officially launched – and God is using them in amazing ways in the wake of COVID-19!
This summer, as we adhere fully to social distancing guidelines, our camps are very different from our usual summer Bible camps, some of which would normally have hundreds of children in attendance. But our leaders say the impact of these smaller encounters is greater since many of the children have spent months isolated f...rom friends.
In the weeks ahead, we will host more neighborhood Bible day camps, touching the lives of 15,000 children who might never learn about Jesus and His love for them any other way.
In response to this outreach, many friends have already given – but we still need your help to raise the full $150,000 for the camps. Every $10 will give a child the chance to attend a neighborhood Bible day camp. A gift of $100 will give 10 children the chance to experience day camp.
The children participate in singing, playing games, and learning about God’s love. Plus, each child receives a special Hope for Kids Kit, containing food and hygiene items, sweet treats, and a children’s Bible or storybook. Our day camps are planting the seeds of faith in the hearts of the children’s parents, too – seeds that often bloom right before the eyes of our teams!
Gena, one of our camp leaders, shared,
“When we went to do a camp at one family’s home, the mother was very closed off. But as she saw our team teach her kids and play and sing with them, she started warming up. At the end of the day she made coffee for us and wanted us to stay and talk. We saw a drastic change in her and we will continue ministering to this family!”
We believe God will use these camps to sow a greater harvest than any summer yet! In fact, as a result of them, small Bible study groups are already forming, which will lay the groundwork for new churches in the region.
